The APR is part of the via alpina that links Trieste (IT) with Nice (FR) through the whole alps. The swiss part takes about 15 days and starts from Montreux on the shore of the lake of Geneva to reach Sargans close to the austrian border. This page describes the part Lenk to Elm and represents 10 days of walk.
The start is the lovely resort of Lenk (1350 m) , easily reached by train from Montreux with the MOB train.

Climbing the Hanenmoss pass si not really a mountain trek (1956 m) but rather an easy initial training to test physicial condition. Restaurant and activities at the top (model gliding).
Passed Adelboden, the path turns right to the little Valley of Bunderle, from which the the next pass (Bucherlinde 2385m) is visible as an hole in the cliff.

The first stop is the berghaus of Bonderalp at 1680m. Friendly owner, who will play alphorn for you ! Sleeping is just above the stabble.

From the Bunderchrinde pass (2385m), there is a wonderfful view over the Kandersteg valley. View over the Balmhorn (two white small summits on the left) and the Altels (white summit on the right).

View to the left,

While descending the pass, a nice view over the Oeschinensee (1522m) , the place we will stay overnight.

Early morning start from the Oeschinensee, heading to the Hohtürli pass at 2778m.

Climbing the Hohtürli, the Blümlisalp Hütte 2834m can be seen on the right of the picture, on the edge of the pass..

View back from the path to the Hotürli.

The Hotürli and the Blümlisalp Hütte.

View to the pass of the next day, the shoulder of the Vorderi-Buïtlasse and the Sefinenfurgge at 2612m, through which we can see partly the Wetterhorn.

After the descent to the Berghaus of Bundelalp, a view back to the Blümlisalp Hütte.

Climbing to the Sefinenfurgge, on the moraine of the Gamchigletscher. The path heads first to the Gspaltenhorn Hütte.

Before the Gspaltenhorn hüutte, we
turned left
to the Vorderi-Bütlasse 2790m.

Once at the Vorderi-Bütlasse (2790m), the path continues to the final Sefinenfurgge. Steep but equiped with ropes and ladders.

View from the Sefinenfurgge over the Wetterhorn, Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau (from left to right).

Descending the Sefinenfurgge, we passed by the Rotstockhütte, highly recommended for its wonderful cooking and amazing top class french wines. In 2007 the owner wanted to give up, may not be the hut we experienced.

The final goal is the Suppenalp Berghaus, here the path in front of the Schwarzmönch.

Eventually, after about 8 hours, we arrived at Suppenalp.

Below, a view back to the Eiger and the Klein Scheidegg.

Arriving at the Grosse Scheidegg.

Below the early start from Grosse Scheidegg down to Schwarzwald a bus station tha help the descent to Meiringen.

On the side of the Melchsee and Tannensee, view over the Mähren (2970m) and Tällistock (2579m), these mountains continue to the Titlis.

View back to the Wetterhorn (3692m9) and Wellenhorn (3191m) . The cable car is the Planplatten 2233m.

First view over the Engstelsee (1850m), today's overnight stay.

Starting from the Engstelsee alp, we climbed to the Joch pass (2343m) and went down to the Engelberg Valley.

Bottom of the Engelberg Valley, heading to Stäfeli.

From Stäfeli, the path climbs gently to the Blackenalp, where a nice chapel is located.

View back to the Surenen when climbing the pass.

from the Surenen pass, view over the valley of Altdorf, in front, the Klausenpass.

Altdorf

At the Klausenpass, view to the valley named Urner Boden. While the path on the side is quite nice, the path in the bottom of the valley is extremely boring and useless. Along the road, no view, worth to take a bus to avoid this lengthy and disappointed part.

From Linthal, one of the longest trekking day: 1700 m climbing to Richteli pass 2261m.

View from the Richetli pass to the Erbser Stock, a little pass just before the descent to Elm.

Climbing Erbser Stock

At Erbser stock, before the descent to Elm.
